Do you teach mothers how to Hand Express?

Hand expression is an invaluable tool for all mothers to learn in the early days and weeks of breastfeeding. It is especially helpful to treat engorgement which some mothers face within the first few days of milk production or for those mothers that are separated from their infants due to illness. Dr. Jane Morton, a Pediatrician affiliated with Stanford University has provided a wonderful video which is linked HERE which is a wonderful teaching tool for both parents and health care providers. This assists facilities to address Step 5 of the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding- Show mothers how to breastfeed and maintain lactation even if they should be separated from their infants.
